The Floaters group was apparently from the Detroit area and simply submitted their 2-track to the record company for mastering. This was not uncommon, mind you.
  5. The Floaters were an R&B vocal group from Detroit, Michigan, USA, that formed in The band was formed by the former The Detroit Emeralds' singer James Mitchell, with his brother Paul Mitchell, Larry Cunningham, Charles Clark, and the unrelated Ralph Mitchell. 6. Remember buying this album when it was first released and finding it a complete let down- their cover of " You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" can only be described as horrendous! Listening again 40 years later their UK No1 "Float On" is of course the standout track- the rest of the album is 2nd rate material delivered by a 2nd rate group/5(84).
  7. 8. The spirit of 77, the sound of the Floaters with Float On coming out of the speakers late at night with your girl in your arms, snuggling close to you. I bought this album only for the 12 minute long version of the song, to relive the memories back again, the tune is so good/5(5).
